Bernie Sanders Doubles Down on Female President Statement Saying Women Should Stick to Roles Such as “Meter Maids and Stuff”

DES MOINES, IA —Responding to accusations by members of the Elizabeth Warren campaign that he told her in a 2018 conversation that he didn’t believe a woman could win the presidency, Bernie Sanders doubled down last night in the Democratic debate with another misogynistic statement. “I’m not saying women can’t do important jobs. I just think they’re more successful in traditional female roles like waitresses, stewardess, meter maids and stuff,” said Sanders. “When you make your decision about the Democratic nominee, consider whether you want a president who is divided between making policy decisions and making decisions about what to cook her husband for dinner.” DeMarcus Parker, Executive Director for the National Federation of Parking, Mobility, Transportation, Micro-Mobility and Commuter Professionals (NFPMTMMCP), responded late Tuesday night to Sanders comments, “We at NFPMTMMCP strongly resent the sexist and misogynistic choice of words used by Bernie Sanders. The parking and mobility industry is loaded with female representation and talent. Even our board at NFPMTMMCP has a woman on it or at least it did last year.”
