Parking Director Reads Every Word of Parking Proposals

CAPESIDE, MA In an unusual feat of municipal prowess, City of Capeside parking director, Stanley Jurkowski read every word of every parking proposal submitted last month in the request for proposals. The City of Capeside received nine parking proposals ranging from 176 pages to 432 pages for a total of 2,716 pages. The word count is equivalent to the entire canon of prolific Russian writer, Leo Tolstoy. “Let’s be honest. Typically, we read the cover letter and maybe the executive summary before jumping to the pricing section to choose the lowest bidder,” says Jurkowski. “But paid parking has been such a sensitive and important topic for our community I felt I owed it to our stakeholders to thoroughly review each and every proposal.” Parking has been a hot topic since the idea was presented in a council meeting last March. Jurkowski said he read War & Peace one summer in his twenties, so said he felt strongly he could finish reading every word. “It took me 6 weeks of straight reading but I’m so thankful I took on this challenge to make the best decision for Capeside on this very important topic,” said Jurkowski. At press time, the City ended up going with the lowest bidder after all.
